Ristorante Palazzo Petrucci was started in 2007.
An ambitious plan, a gamble by Edoardo Trotta, a business expert who had always been keen on the world of food and wine, and Lino Scarallo, a Neapolitan Chef; this is what gave rise to the idea of a restaurant that could offer tradition and innovation at the same time, reviving typical "o ragu e Mare" (turf and surf) dishes.
The restaurant was inaugurated in what used to be the stables of the historic Palazzo Petrucci, in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, and gets its name from that location, a historic place, always the scene of plots, secrets and mysteries.
In December 2008 a great victory was won when the Michelin Guide gave the restaurant a star: the first one in Naples to achieve a Michelin star.
In January 2016, after 9 years of operation in Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, the restaurant changed location and moved to the Villa Donn'Anna beach in Posillipo, from one historic building to another, opening up new horizons.
LOCATION
The restaurant, set in one of the city's loveliest areas, overlooks the bay of Posillipo and the view from it is breath-taking: starting from Palazzo Donn'Anna on the right, with its background of tradition and mystery, the panorama stretches towards the left, taking in Capri, the Sorrentine peninsula, Vesuvius, Castel dell'Ovo, and Mergellina. This is a picture-postcard scene, an invaluable natural treasure, a muse that has fascinated poets and artists who have praised its beauty for centuries and made it into an immortal place, a symbol of the the beauty of Naples, famous throughout the world.
THE STRUCTURE
The place was designed by the architect Alfredo Galdi with a simple and refined style in line with the food served and the philosophy of Palazzo Petrucci.
The central part of the structure consists of symbolic installations that bring the sea and the land together.
The sea is represented by a decor on the wall at the end of the room, which gives a stylised and three-dimensional version in wood of sails, framed in sheet steel like a picture, like a work of art, reminding us of the boats of the fishermen of Posillipo.
In this setting the structure is free of any superfluous decoration, leaving the star roles to tasting the food and enjoying the scenery.
The land is represented by the cellar, which can be seen from the dining room through a glass wall; it is also framed in sheet steel like a work of art, inside it the stylised vine tree is the symbol of the fruitfulness of the earth.
THE CELLAR
Technically designed for storing wines in a cool damp place (the temperature is constantly kept at between 12° and 18° and the humidity is always more than 60%), the cellar, with the vine tree, which can be seen through glass from the dining room, is a work of art in its own right.
The wine list, with about 600 labels, offers a wide choice from around the world but special attention is paid to the excellent local wines.
